In Attica, in addition to the large mountains that enclose the basin, many lower mountains and hills are also of climbing interest, where small crags are organized by Athenian climbers, mainly for sport climbing.
Excluding the large mountains of Attica (Parnitha, Penteli, Ymittos, Geraneia, Kithaironas and Pateras), which deserve special mention, we define Notia Attiki (South Attica) as the area south of the settlements of Voula, Vari, Koropi, Markopoulo and Porto Rafti, including dozens of low mountains and hills such as Paneion, Merenta, Mavrinora, Charvati, Olympos and others.
Several climbing sites have been organized on the rocks of the area, which have easy access and conditions suitable for climbing all year round. Some of these areas are Agia Marina, Daskaleio, Kakia Thalassa, Petalouda and Chaos.
