Tymfi - Gamila II - NE. Face

Coolness

Rock, Traditional

The first ascent of the route “Coolness” (V+, 450m) was realized on 8/8/1993 by D. Kallos - K. Tzovaras.

The name of the route probably arose as a natural continuation of the adjacent route “Panic”.

Approaching the route involves 2hr of walking, starting from the refuge of Astraka (through Karteros pass). In order to locate the line, look at the amphitheatric part of the crag. On the right side, a cedar stands out (at approximately 60m high), under which there is a big, separated block. The start of the route is exactly under that block.

The 2nd pitch goes to the left of the block and the belay is set right above it. The 6th pitch is a traverse, so as to avoid the first tower. From there, the line continues straight up, to the right of the characteristic rib.

The rock is generally of good quality, except for the difficult passages of the 5th and 12th pitch where the rock is quite loose.
