The first ascent of the route “Liagkou - Xanthopoulou” (IV+, 700m) was realized on 1/6/1958 by D. Liagkos - G. Xanthopoulos.
This is the oldest recorded route of Varasova.
The line is located in the “Michailidi” section and starts between the “Alogiari” and “Avramopoulou - Kladi” routes.
The route initially follows the left side of the large ridge (V-) which is the beginning of the uphill entrance to the huge notch in the crag, going parallel to the later “Avramopoulos - Kladis”. The ridge leads to the large ledge of the crag and from there on its course is not exactly known, but it is thought to traverse left and up the ledge and then right and up, following the easiest path (up to III) to the summit ridge.
The first repetition was made solo by Tr. Adamakopoulos and V. Chazirvasanis.
For repeating the route, a full set of nuts, some cams and slings are required.
The return after completing the route is made by descending from the summit path.
