Stimulation

Rock, Traditional

The route “Stimulation” (VI, 80m) was established in 1988 by D. Korres - A. Theodoropoulos.

The line is located in the “Firefly” section and starts between the “Firefly” and “Good rope partner” routes. Access is from the “Herod” section via the metal path and initially we scramble up to the ledge below the large slab.

The route mainly follows a characteristic water groove located in the center of the large slab, to the left of the “Good rope partner”.

On the 1st pitch (VI+) we start next to the base of the “Good rope partner” dihedral, heading diagonally left, towards the water groove, which we climb until we meet the belay.

On the 2nd pitch (VI-) we go a little left and then straight up to meet the “Good rope partner” who comes from the right, making the belay on a ledge with trees. Normally the route ends here, but we can continue if we want, following the “Good rope partner” to the top.

The necessary gear for repeating the route are a series of nuts, some friends and slings.

If we climb to the top, the return is made by climbing 50m further up and to the right until we meet the red marks that lead us right and down to the rappels of “Tower” or “Kalidonische pfeiler”.

Note: The 2nd pitch is somewhat ambiguous, as G. Aligiannis in his guide draws the line to go up for a while and then traverse to the right to end up at the belay of “Good rope partner”, above the dihedral, saying that this is how it was originally published. However, the drawing of A. Theodoropoulos in his own guide, as well as the sketch of D. Korres, show the pitch going left for a while and then straight up to the ledge. Since the route was opened by D. Korres - A. Theodoropoulos, their own drawings should be more accurate. So we consider that “Stimulation”, after the belay, goes a little left, then straight up and has the next belay on the ledge with the trees, a little further left than the “Printezi” belay.

Old sketch by D. Korres.
