Too old to rock and roll

Rock, Traditional

The first ascent of the route “Too old to rock and roll” (VIII- A0, 245m) was realized in July 2006 by H. Mpelogiannis - G. Voutyropoulos. In the attempt, which had actually started in 1999, had also participated N. Koutsouki - L. Mandrou - N. Voutyropoulos.

The line moves on the overhanging red rock that looms above the footpath which leads from Mikro Papigo to Vikos’ water sources.

The line is barely equipped with permanent protection, while the ascent is a combination of hard sport climbing, traditional climbing as well as big crag climbing techniques. In general, the route is difficult since it requires self control, it involves long run-outs and loose rock parts while at the same time it offers the sensation of being exposed to the void, and all of these characteristics combined with sparse permanent protection.

In order to repeat this climb, a set of nuts and a set of friends are required.

The return involves 3 abseils (50m, 60m, 55m).
