Greek Islands (Sporades/Dodecanse)

Post by charles »

Hello,
With some swiss friends(speaking french, German&English), we've planed a bit of climbing around Kalymnos. In fact, we're chartering a sailing boat, that's wy we've planed to get also a bit around.
We've got two weeks to do the trip (but one week in fact, as we've got to be back to Kalymnos-Harbour at the end of each week, due to some crew changes). Regarding this situation, we don't really expect going further more South than Symi (or Rhodes); further more North than Leros(eventually Samos); and further more West than Astypalea (eventually Santorin).
Even if Some people are found of sailing, most of their dreams are about cliffs and climbing (even about DVS "Deep water soloing").

So:

WHich SUGGESTIONS ?

In the same area: ARE THERe ANY OTHER ISLANDS(EVEN IN TURKEY) WITH FULLY EQUIPPED CLIMBING WAYS ? (I mean, any other Islands than: Symi, Kalymnos, Santorin, Samos, Rhodes)

If the answer is YES: Do you have any other informations about these Island (websites, panel of difficulties etc...)
If the answer is NO: What do you know about Climbing in Santorin, Climbing in Symi & climbing in Rhodes ? Because my crew has'got a climbing level between 3c & 7 (french cotations), would there be enough climbing fully equipped crags for none of us to get bored onto any of these Island after, at least, more than one day?

Thank you very much for any information, guys(&women) !

Cheers.

Charles,

No, there is not developed sport climbing routes in other islands close to Kalymnos.
DWS possibilities there are at Amorgos (close to saint Anna beach) and at Folegandros (Close to katergo beach). Amorgos and Anafi offers also big possibilities for long trad routes.
Good bouldering there is at Kos and Tinos.
